When we hand a child a worksheet, we set a ceiling on their learning. When we engage them in rich, oral-based play, the sky is the limit. The "Science of Reading" hasn't made preschool more academic it has made it more active.

As the Director of Waves, I have a unique "birds-eye view" of our daily life. I see the incredible dedication of our educators and the deep, protective love you have for your children. Often, in the whirlwind of morning drop-offs and weary evening pick-ups, the vital bridge between home and school can get a little dusty.

Each excursion will grow from the children’s interests and projects, weaving learning beyond the classroom and into real-life experiences. Whether exploring a nearby park, visiting familiar community spaces, or following children’s curiosities outdoors, these moments will extend their thinking and invite new questions, conversations, and connections. Learning becomes something lived, not just talked about.

At Waves Early Learning, we are always striving to deepen the way we engage with children’s learning and development. Recently, Miss Maddy and Miss Nikki attended professional development training on the 8 Ways of Learning, and this has inspired a fresh approach to our programming and documentation.

At Waves Early Learning, the safety, well-being, and holistic development of the children in our care have always been at the heart of every decision we make. This year, we implemented a significant change in how we document and share children’s learning journeys: we have moved away from third-party digital platforms and apps.
